I have been researching flower essences lately, because I would like to begin using them in my reiki practice. When I looked for consumer reviews of some popular flower essences, they were overwhelmingly negative. The common comment was, “they don’t do anything!–Waste of money!” Well, I know enough to understand that the flower essences work on a vibrational level, which is a facet of our existence that many are not in tune with. They are expecting the essences to work like aspirin or drugs that work on a chemical, physical level…or they think it is the placebo effect, that sort of thing. I am sure that you have dealt with all of these misperceptions many times–any words of advice?
    MAny Thanks and Blessings,

    Hi Annette,

Thank you so much for your post, and for your question. Yes, it’s a common misperception, especially with people who have not had a lot of experience with alternative/complementary medicine practices, or with reiki, or with natural health remedies.

Aspirin relieves symptoms; flower essences remove the energetic causes that PRODUCE symptoms. Big difference.

Unless you want to keep taking “aspirin” the rest of your life, why wouldn’t it be far better to stop producing headaches? Actually, that is a really good question, isn’t it.

Our larger culture teaches that there is such a thing as “a quick fix” — and that the “quick fix” is a good thing, which most health practitioners know is not necessarily so.

The allopathic medical approach is to treat symptoms, not the whole health state of a person or any other living being, which is one reason the medical “establishment” sometimes causes more problems than it cures. But a discussion of the differences in Western medicine vs natural medicine only touches the tip of the iceberg here.

What is really needed is a return to a system that teaches us how to live in harmony ~ with ourselves, our fellow humans, our environment, the other living beings with which we share life and breath, and the earth (not always necessarily in that order.)

Until we begin to realize that dealing with symptoms just doesn’t get us healthy ~ whether we’re discussing medicine, education, finances, or politics ~ I think we will not see a return to a robust, vibrant, health-full world. We need a sea change in how we live, and how we think about our relationships.

That’s why I do what I do ~ because I believe it all starts with energy. Flower essences are the ONE modality that helps you restore balance with your electrical patterns. That’s foundational.

Your question leads me to layers upon layers of possible responses, but I hope this is a good start. In future posts perhaps I can get into some of the other ways that flower essences address what no other modality does ~ or can.

Many of the answers are already here in the FAQ section and in some of my responses to previous questions. But do feel free to ask more! It prompts me to provide even deeper answers and I enjoy that ๐Ÿ™‚

    Many blessings and thanks again!

    Nancy
